Construction is undeniably crucial to society, providing essential infrastructure for our daily lives. Yet, it is also a significant contributor to environmental degradation, accounting for 39% of carbon emissions and 36% of global energy use. With new construction demand predicted to double the world's building stock by 2060, sustainability in construction becomes a pressing priority.
At Paroc Panel System, a Kingspan tradename, we're taking action with "Planet Passionate," our ambitious 10-year global sustainability program. Addressing climate change, circularity, and environmental protection, we're committed to using renewable and recyclable materials, minimizing energy and water consumption, reducing our carbon footprint, and preserving natural habitats.
To date, in the reporting year 2023, we've achieved a 65% reduction in Scope 1 &2 GHG emissions from the base year, we've increased the capacity of on-site electricity generation from PV systems to 42 MW, and have reduced landfill waste by 33% from 2020 base year. Just in 2023 year we harvested 56.7 million liters of rainwater, and recycled 858 million PET bottles. Learn more in Kingspan Group "Planet Passionate" report here.
