Low Carbon Solutions

The LEC (Lower Embodied Carbon) products represent a new generation of building materials that meet today's requirements for reducing the carbon footprint of buildings. LEC is an innovative sandwich panel solution with a lower embodied carbon footprint. This reduction is achieved through targeted actions in our primary supply chain, in line with our Planet Passionate programme.
AST® LEC
Towards emission neutrality in the construction sector
The life cycle assessment of AST® L LEC shows 55% less carbon in modules A1-A3 and 53% less in modules A-C, compared to the corresponding AST® L panel of 80 mm thickness according to EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021.

The lifecycle carbon emissions of our products are reduced by using raw-materials with low carbon emissions. The reduction in life cycle carbon dioxide emissions compared to base products can be verified by comparing the environmental labels of the products. We provide Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for all our LEC products.
We're dedicated to further minimizing the carbon footprint of LEC products through a number of initiatives:
We are investing in continuous improvements in our manufacturing processes and product development as part of our 'Planet Passionate' programme.
We are introducing internal carbon charges and targeting our support to suppliers who provide low-carbon raw materials.
We are investing in H2 Green Steel, a pioneer in making steel using hydrogen instead of fossil fuels.
Carbon footprint of buildings

(11%) EARLY STAGE OF THE LIFE CYCLE
Carbon dioxide emissions during manufacturing, material transport and construction

(28%) USE
Carbon dioxide emissions during use of the building (including maintenance and repair)

END OF LIFE
Emissions from re-use, recycling or waste treatment at the end of a building's life cycle.
