Fire EI-M Impact Walls

When both fire resistance and mechanical durability are required, fire walls built with Paroc EI-M panels provide a reliable solution. Engineered to meet demanding standards for fire resistance and impact strength, these panels are ideal for industrial and mission-critical buildings where structural stability and reliability are essential.
Building regulations govern the construction of firewalls in large buildings to prevent the spread of fire. Traditionally, heavier materials such as concrete or aircrete have been used to build fire- and impact-resistant walls. Now, fire- and mechanical-impact-rated Paroc panels can fill this role, offering additional benefits such as quick installation and economic and environmental efficiency.
For non-load-bearing walls, EI classification (E – Integrity, I – Insulation) is commonly used, and Paroc Panels are classified up to EI240. Following extensive testing, Paroc Panel System now offers sandwich panels tested up to EI120-M, where:
E - Prevents fire spread through flames or hot gases
I - Limits heat transfer
M - Mechanical impact resistance (e.g., from falling components during fire)
The EI-M classification, according to EN 13501-2:2016, means that the panel maintains its fire resistance even after mechanical impact.
EI-M Impact Wall Systems
Paroc Panel System offers three EI-M wall systems, depending on project requirements:
System A - Double wall with AST F 100 mm panels
System B - Single wall with AST F 200 mm panels
System C: Single wall with AST S 240 mm panels (NEW!)
EI-M Wall, System A
Upgrade of existing wall to EI-M fire/impact wall:
Double wall system EI90-M
2x AST F panels 100 mm thick
Application: internal walls
Installation: between the columns

EI-M Wall, System B
Construction of new internal fire walls
Single wall system EI120-M
Single AST F panel 200 mm thick
Application: internal walls
Installation: between columns

EI-M Wal, System C
Construction of new internal or external fire walls
Single wall system EI120-M
AST S panel 240 mm thick
Application: external and internal wall
Installation: standard installation outside column
Fewer components, faster installation

The Paroc EI-M Wall, System C installation method reduces the number of flashings and fixings, supporting efficient assembly while maintaining structural stability, impact resistance and extended spans in industrial and commercial buildings. Watch the installation video below.
